We must devote ourselves to as achieving as deep an understanding as possible of the things God has revealed. But when we reach the point at which the truths taught in Scripture are irreconcilable to our finite human minds, we must recognize that these matters are fully reconciled in the infinite mind of God, and we must be satisfied with that. As you said, that is the point where we operate on faith even though we don't completely understand. As John MacArthur said last year at the Ligonier Conference, we need to stop trying to rescue God from His own theology. We cannot completely explain everything about why God chose to do what He did, nor how it reconciles with other seemingly contradictory matters, but we have to accept them as true and realize that they bring Him glory.Bruce Millshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16581774031989668349noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2577030060640806742.post-72553246977211363812008-02-19T17:14:00.000-05:002008-02-19T17:14:00.000-05:00Bruce - thanks for the honest treatment of an incr...Bruce - thanks for the honest treatment of an incredibly difficult topic. You are right on target I think when you urge us to not try to figure it all out; it simply won't happen in this lifetime. Is that where faith comes into play - where we say "yes, Lord, even though I don't understand"? I tried to wrap this up into a nice package like you said, and I just couldn't do it! ARGGGHHH! My aching head!Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18412531360345766076noreply@blogger.com
